Introduction to Asylum Support Appeals for Scottish Solicitors

This free, interactive 2.5 hour webinar delivered by the Asylum Support Appeals Project is available on an invitation-only basis to solicitors in Scotland who are interested in learning how to prepare and represent in appeals before the First-tier Tribunal (Asylum Support).

The cost of this free webinar is being met by the Roof Coalition‘s Legal Strategy Group, with the support of The Baring Foundation.

Our aim is to increase the number of Scottish solicitors who are confident and interested in representing in asylum support appeals, following up our success in obtaining a determination of the Scottish Legal Aid Board which makes legal aid available to Scottish solicitors for representation in asylum support appeals, up to an initial expenditure limit of £500.

We are concerned that we will see a potentially high number of people facing eviction from asylum support accommodation, as we move into the Covid-19 recovery phase, and that people who have rights to remain in accommodation will not be able to exercise those rights if they cannot access legal representation timely, in Scotland.
