Briefing on the National Age Assessment Board: Age Disputes and Children’s Rights

As members of the Refugee and Migrant Children’s Consortium (RMCC), we’ve joined over 100 organisations in signing a joint briefing, now available on our website.

The RMCC is a coalition working to protect the rights of young refugees and migrants in the UK. Age disputes have long been a focus, with growing concern over children being denied support because they are treated as adults. As the Home Office has taken greater control of age determinations, flawed decisions have put hundreds of children at risk.

A key development has been the introduction of the National Age Assessment Board (NAAB). This briefing provides an objective analysis of NAAB’s operation and impact, and encourages discussion on the role it should play, building on the Consortium’s previous recommendations.
