Reuniting Families: The Urgent Call for Support for Palestinians in the UK

We’re supporting the petition led by Gaza Families Reunited campaign calling on the UK Government to urgently introduce a Gaza Family Scheme, allowing Palestinians in Gaza to reunite safely and quickly with their family members in the UK.

The statistics paint a harrowing picture: as of 21st March, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, nearly 32,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip, with 70% of those casualties being women and children. Over 74,000 individuals have been left wounded. Families are being torn apart, separated by circumstance and geography.

Through our legal work with Palestinians trying to join family in the UK, we see multiple barriers in the Home Office process which make safe reunification extremely difficult or impossible. We fully support the Gaza Families Reunited campaign, a grassroots movement. The campaign has launched a petition which already counts over 46,000 signatures, calling upon the UK Government to take decisive action and introduce the Gaza Family Scheme, modelled on the Ukraine Family Scheme.

This Scheme would allow people displaced in Gaza to reunite with their families in the UK, creating a safe route to sanctuary by removing the bureaucratic, legal and logistical barriers in the current immigration process.

The petition closes on the 18th of April. It needs 100,000 signatures to be debated in Westminster.
